Community Gathering
The Komu supports local values within the developing area in which we are situated and for guests wanting to become involved in community projects, there are plenty of incredible options to choose from!
‘Gotong Royong’ is the Indonesian term to describe a communal gathering, coming together to achieve a mutual goal. With such a thriving tourist scene, many local initiatives have been created in Bali dedicated to keeping the island free from pollution and degradation. ‘One Island One Voice’ is a group dedicated to controlling plastics and rubbish flow within Bali and over the past six years have gathered over 70 thousand people together for their annual Beach Clean Up day. ‘Sungai Watch’ also focuses on removing rubbish from waterways while the all-inclusive Balinese ‘Nyepi Day’ is an annual event where all the island residents are asked to stay indoors and refrain from using electricity for 24 hours. It is a special occasion focused on self-reflection and the ‘Ogoh Ogoh’ parades, processions of statues representing mythological beings carried through the streets on the eve of Nyepi hold an amazing opportunity for foreigners to witness and be part of a hugely significant cultural event for the Balinese people.
Clubbing
Canggu’s nightlife offers a nocturnal playground like no other. Internationally acclaimed venues provide electrifying backdrops for music, dance, and evenings of unrivaled revelry and the world-famous Finns Beach Club is just a short stroll away.
From dusk ‘til dawn, a world of entertainment kicks into gear across the island and Canggu has become a focal point. Bali’s biggest beachclub Atlas provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for jam packed dance floors along with Asia’s longest beach bar and its wild parties are just a short walk away. Even closer you’ll find the entrance to Bali’s hugely popular underground club ‘Vault’ where red drapes lead into a bunker style hot spot of styled cocktails, world renowned DJs and all the makings of a wild night out. To kick off or wind down your evening, lazy lounge spots and bars light up the streets well into the AM hours and snack houses offer options for that final chow down before calling it a night.
